Who We Are

The Elkhart Environmental Center (EEC) is the largest public greenspace in the City of Elkhart--encompassing 80 acres of riverfront, restored prairies and woodlands, and man-made wetlands partially atop a remediated dump. The Elkhart Environmental Center is also the sustainability department for the City of Elkhart and provides educational programs and workshops for the public as well as several annual fun events.

What We Do

EEC staff and volunteers work together to do it all! We maintain the property for visitors and wildlife by improving and creating site amenities (e.g. benches, bridges, shelters, etc.) as well as managing each ecosystem (mainly by removing invasive species and planting native species).

We also work together to provide fun and educational programs and events for the public, inlcuding school field trips, workshops for adults, families, and kids, and large events such as Earth Day, EnviroFest, Waggin' in the Woods (our popular dog-friendly event), Haunted Walk Through the Woods (Halloween), and our new Pollinator Promenade.
