Volunteer Youth Soccer Coach
Help young athletes build confidence, learn new skills, and have fun on the field! Our Volunteer Soccer Coaches play an important role in creating a positive, encouraging environment where kids can develop a love for the game while learning teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.
Season Dates: September 16 – October 7, 2026
Time Commitment: Wednesdays, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Location: Riverview Park, 340 Riverview Ave., Elkhart, IN 46516
What You'll Do
- Lead and encourage a youth soccer team throughout the season.
- Create simple, fun practice plans before the season begins.
- Teach basic soccer skills while promoting teamwork and good sportsmanship.
- Attend all practices and games.
- Serve as the referee during your team's games.
- Create a positive, supportive experience where every child feels included and encouraged.
What We're Looking For
You don't have to be a professional coach! We're looking for volunteers who:
- Have a basic knowledge of soccer.
- Enjoy working with children.
- Can commit to attending all practices and games.
- Are enthusiastic, patient, and encouraging.
- Believe in teaching teamwork, respect, and good sportsmanship.

- A league coach shirt to keep.
- A whistle to keep.
- All practice equipment and coaching materials.
- The opportunity to make a lasting impact in your community.
Coaching with a friend is encouraged! We love having two coaches per team, making it easy for parents, family members, or friends to volunteer together while sharing coaching responsibilities.
Background Check
To help ensure the safety of all participants, volunteer coaches are required to complete a background check, provided at no cost by the Elkhart Parks & Recreation Department. Background checks must be completed at least 5 business days before your first day of volunteering.
