Help out with Elkhart's annual free Fishing Clinic! This event helps kids learn not only how to fish, but how to fish safely and responsibly. Volunteers help with setup, leading various stations, assisting kids with their new fishing skills, photography, and cleanup. This is a great way to pass on your fishing skills and help the younger generations engage with and appreciate our local natural resources!
You don't have to be an expert fisherperson to lead any of the stations--in fact, you don't have to have ANY experience with fishing (though it would be a fun bonus if you do!). All info is provided and staff go through an orientation before the event starts. Each station focuses on teaching kids about one set of skills (e.g. knot tying, casting, stewardship, etc.) and practicing their new knowledge for about 10-15 minutes and staff are available to support whenever needed.
Lunch and snacks are provided for volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering, but are not available for the entire event, please let us know. It's a long day. We understand. We're happy to work with you to split the stations into shifts if needed. Feel free to contact us at 574-293-5070 or email EECmail@coei.org.
Please note: We will NOT be located at the enclosed pavilion. Stations will be located on the north side of High Dive Park underneath canopy tents. The nearest parking is located off of Baldwin St.
